Metricom is an independent software development group that offers semi-custom and fully customized software systems, and provides complete project outsourcing services for health care enterprises. In addition, the Technical Services Group provides technical information systems consulting and software applications development on a contract basis to create complete technology-based business solutions.

Metricom's consulting and development projects have focused almost exclusively on the health care industry, including managed care applications, clinical laboratory systems, and claims payment systems. Most projects have included development of applications software distributed to large numbers of end users, with extensive training, documentation, and support provided. Metricom specializes in "outreach" technologies that involve the originator of transactions in the actual entry, validation, and processing of data.

Background...

Metricom was formed in 1987 by a group of health care industry specialists and computer software consultants to meet the industry's rapidly expanding need for information systems. As the industry's primary form of reimbursement (fee-for-service) began to shift toward managed care and resource-based models, new information systems were required to acquire data and manage the care delivery system. Metricom's expertise with electronic reimbursement systems became a foundation for developing custom 'outreach' capabilities for a variety of health care applications.

Building on the many years of telecommunications and networking experience, Metricom became one of the first organizations to implement custom outreach solutions for managed care companies, hospitals, and commercial clinical laboratories. Custom health care applications built by Metricom have enjoyed nearly a decade of use by clinicians and administrative personnel in literally thousands of sites across the country, and continure to process tens of thousands of transactions each day for our clients. Savings and process improvements resulting from these systems have repaid, many times over, the original investment.

Metricom continues to specialize in building custom and semi-custom business solutions for our health care customers. Where appropriate, our existing products can be licensed and modified to meet a client's needs; in other cases, completely custom solutions can be implemented quickly and efficiently using a combination of existing components and specially developed software. Our experience in building outreach solutions across public and private networks allows us to rapidly introduce proven techniques into our solutions, saving our clients considerable time and money on large and small projects alike.
